Beaubois fits up the United States Courthouse in Buffalo

The firm will put its stamp on the architectural woodwork and furnishings of the new Buffalo Courthouse, a building whose architecture blends harmoniously with its urban environment.

The building will be elliptical, taking the shape of its site. The curtain-walls of the courtroom vestibules will look out towards over Niagara Square and the activities there. The glass entrance to the building will both enhance the streets of the quarter while providing a quiet, relaxing garden for the building's occupants.

On every floor, there will be two courtrooms, each adjacent to a judge's chambers, jury deliberations room and traffic areas. Beaubois will be producing and installing the furniture - judges' benches, witness stands, bailiff and jury boxes, and public seating - in all nine. The firm will also fabricate all the architectural woodwork, doors and frames, and something quite unusual in this type of room, acoustic panels. Beaubois' artistry will also grace the judges' chambers.

In total, there will be four Magistrate Rooms, four District Rooms and a room dedicated to Special Proceedings. Installation will be completed in December 2009 and the opening is scheduled for June 2010.
