The Denver Courthouse: an impressive project, with the Beaubois touch.

Furnishings and architectural elements in high figured maple are the Beaubois finishing touches found in:

• 15 court rooms (10 District Courts, 4 Magistrates Courts and 1 Special Proceedings Court);
• judges' offices and library;
• court clerks' offices;
• offices of the U.S. Marshall Service;
• and many other areas including the witness holding rooms, work rooms, jury deliberating rooms.

The Courthouse's pièce de résistance is a magnificent two-storey rotunda. It is completely overlaid with curved panels set on an angle and giving the rotunda a slightly conical shape. In maple, these panels blend glass, stainless steel and natural stone.

An important characteristic of this building is that all the rooms have raised floors. This imposes weight restrictions so the materials and furnishings had to be handled with particular care.

With an area of 24,155 square metres, this project required an investment of US$47.2.
