Ever since they accepted the plan for the new courthouse, the people of Taunton have been impatiently awaiting its opening.
The construction is stimulating the city's economy and, when the courthouse opens, it will attract new clients to neighboring businesses and restaurants as it will not have a food service area.
There will be eight rooms to serve the Juvenile, Family, District, Probate and Housing Courts. Inside each room, the public will be able to admire the elegant craft of Beaubois in the furniture, doors and architectural woodwork. The firm will also produce and install bookcases and wainscots, acoustic wood paneling, the security desk and all the door frames.
This new building's modern architecture was designed not to clash with that of the Superior Court building to which it will be eventually connected. It is also being constructed to meet LEED standards with a view to obtaining Silver certification.
The community is already taking pride in the Trial Court, an $86M investment, and so is the Beaubois team, glad to have contributed their expertise.
