The Clarendon Center is going to be the new place to be in Arlington, the most popular commercial and residential suburb in the Washington, DC area.
This vast 352,000 sq. ft complex will cover two blocks and require an investment of $118M. The 12-story south tower will offer 244 apartments and the north section will have six floors of office space and 14,000 sq. ft for retail businesses.
The architecture planned for the complex blends a variety of materials, many of which will decorate the exterior skin and features anigre and cherry wood for the interior. Beaubois will craft all the architectural woodwork components for the residential building such as moldings, decorative appliqués for the doors, window trims, etc. The main lobby will open onto the reception desk - a splendid work of furniture art enhanced by wall panels. This latter element will also be found in the entrance to the northern building.
The public spaces received special attention. The landscaping of the Clarendon Center will feature fountains, clock towers and gardens. The residential section, decorated with numerous balconies, will also house a health club and a pool.
The environmentally conscious owner took the decision to build in accordance with the LEED norms that govern the construction of green buildings and is seeking Silver certification. With numerous LEED projects under its belt, Beaubois is well equipped to collaborate fully in obtaining the desired designation.
An ambitious avant-garde project - a perfect match for Beaubois' talents.
