The new 21-storey building has changed the profile of the sector while still blending perfectly into it. As the site is bounded by two busy thoroughfares, bisected by another street and surrounded by existing buildings, designing the project posed numerous challenges.
Working with the City of Houston, the designers were able to maximize utilization of the available space and minimize the impact of the project of the street that runs through it. The facility has floors ranging in area from 40,000 square feet to 70,000 SF where flexible planning facilitates patient, public and staff circulation inside as well as outside on the campus. There is even valet parking for patients and visitors.
Natural light floods the public spaces, enhancing them and, dare we say, the work done by Beaubois is what gives them their charm! The 2-storey high reception area is decorated with wall panels, stone and a fountain integrated into the wall.
Beaubois produced the nurse's stations on each floor and enhanced the elevator lobbies. The rooms on the 13th to 20th floors are decorated with wood wall units, closets and headboards. The counters, chair supports and many other architectural elements also bear the team's distinctive signature.
Because various pieces of medical equipment had to be integrated and there must be no place where bacteria can establish a foothold, this project required major coordination. It is this coordination coupled with rigorous planning that clearly sets Beaubois apart from its competition and ensures the success of all the company's projects.
