These new facilities will serve the State of Colorado, county, city and juvenile courts. They will cover 3,000 m² (317,000 ft.²) over 5 stories, the maximum permissible height for new buildings in the city.
In total, there will be 29 courtrooms including the very spacious Jury-assembly room that can accommodate up to 350 potential jurors. Beaubois will be making an appearance in all of them.
The firm will provide the architectural woodwork and furniture for the project. White oak wall panelling, judges' benches, jury boxes, witness stands, public seating and bailiffs' offices are among the works that the people at Beaubois will create and install by December 2009.
This huge $378M project has three components: the Courthouse itself, a detention centre and the parking facility for the post office. These new buildings will be the first in Denver to achieve a LEED® Silver rating.
The judicial complex will harmonize with the Beaux Arts style of the Colorado capital's Civic Center and will be an urban link between downtown and the Golden Triangle. A project with style and ambition, a perfect match for the Beaubois team.
