Bronx County Hall of Justice

Beaubois has scored two architectural woodwork contracts in the Bronx County Hall of Justice, New York

The Beaubois team was on base with a double... just a few steps from Yankee Stadium! The firm then scored with two architectural woodwork contracts in the Bronx County Hall of Justice, next door to this New York landmark.

Nicknamed the "Superblock", this new courthouse is almost three blocks long, has an area of 103 millions square meters (1.11 million sq. ft.) and houses 54 courtrooms on 10 floors. The total investment required was US$324.7M.

The Beaubois team appeared in every courtroom (wall panelling and furniture), judges' chambers (furniture and bookshelves) and in the enormous Jury Assembly rotunda (curved furniture and acoustic panels). Steamed beech is the featured wood in this project.

The Bronx County Hall of Justice also provides space for the New York City Police Department and the Department of Correction. Its functional design allows the court's daily activities to proceed with optimal efficiency.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, then-Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani stated that, "When this complex is completed, it will serve as a constant reminder of our City's commitment to the administration of justice. It will reinforce the perception that our legal system is the bedrock upon which our society is founded."
