Edward W. Brooke Courthouse
A Second Appearance at the Boston Courthouse
In 1998, Beaubois provided the architectural woodwork for this huge courthouse and returned several years later to carry out a similar contract as part of the refitting of this 33, 444 square-meter building.
Seven new courtrooms were added to the existing 18 and evidence of Beaubois' presence can be found in them all: judges' benches, witness stands, bailiff boxes, jury boxes (in 3 rooms) and seating for the public as well as all the architectural woodwork elements.
It is very rare that such prominence is given to wood veneers in a project and the use of Roopey-figured American black cherry gives it special character. The elegant swirling grain pattern of this wood creates a unique, refined look.
