Hotel Van Zandt

The Hotel Van Zandt in Austin reflects the charm of Texas and the talent of Beaubois

In this very colourful city, the Hotel Van Zandt has recently entered the Texan market, which is one of the strongest in the United States and highly attractive to investors keen on developing new commercial and industrial projects.

A specialist in high-end architectural woodwork, Beaubois is very active in the Lone Star State, having already played a part in the construction of a dozen buildings. This time, the Beaubois team was in Austin, adding its expertise and talent to the construction of the Hotel Van Zandt.

Beaubois’ touch is apparent in several sectors of the establishment. The ballroom and its anteroom are decorated with wall panels and the ceiling beams are composed of painted wooden planks. The bar’s ceiling is decorated with antiqued beams, a superb feature which truly reflects the skill of Beaubois’ artists. In the meeting rooms, the walls are clad in carefully selected raw wood boards, giving each room its own special, warm atmosphere.

Wall panels adorn the presidential suites and, in the 322 guest rooms, the washroom doors are decorated with wood trims. Beaubois also produced and installed the baseboards and valances in each room. Added to this are the counter in the Café and the built-in furniture of the reception desk where wood and brass are perfectly paired and, finally, the superb bar in the restaurant.

The elements that carry Beaubois’ signature add a decorative touch to this hotel whose architecture and design highlight the lively nature of Texas’ capital city, home to a thriving music scene and the epicentre of technological development. “It’s the perfect setting for our brand, which focuses on the client and entertainment that’s a bit irreverent,” said President and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Depatie.

The Hotel Van Zandt is a member of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants chain which began with one hotel in San Francisco and fanned out across the United States. Today, the chain has numerous properties in the US and will soon move onto the international scene with a new hotel in the Cayman Islands and another in The Netherlands. Founded in 1981 by Bill Kimpton, the company was the first to develop the boutique hotel concept in the United States.

Founded in 1835, this city was named Waterloo two years later. In 1839, it changed its name to Austin, in honour of Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas.” The state capital, Austin is home to several universities, which makes it a very lively, youthful city. It is no surprise, therefore, that it hosts the annual South by Southwest music festival, one of the largest in America. Known as a centre for high-technology Austin also counts an impressive number of biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies among its corporate residents.
