Four Seasons Resort Orlando

Walt Disney World's only five-star hotel

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is Walt Disney World's most luxurious hotel and the largest Four Seasons project in the world. This magnificently designed five-star, five-diamond establishment proved to be an ideal setting for the talent of the team at Beaubois, one of the largest architectural woodwork specialists in North America.

Beaubois does not often get the opportunity to demonstrate its expertise on such a vast scale and to deliver architectural woodwork elements of such refined elegance.

With its 17 stories and 443 luxurious guest rooms and suites, the hotel's architecture is reminiscent of the magnificent resorts that flourished in South Florida in the 1920s. The designers, HKS Architects, drew their inspiration from the American architect Addison Mizner and the Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial Revival styles. As a result, under the Canal-tiled roofs are scores of colonnades, columns and arches as well as French doors, breath-taking staircases and decorative metalwork.

The interior design of the hotel with its clean lines and warm colour palette is an invitation to relax and leave the world of work behind. The elegant finishes are heightened by the simplicity of the decoration and the stylish furniture, a theme carried through the meeting rooms, spa, restaurants and other public spaces.

This theme is maintained in the hotel's guest rooms and suites. Beaubois decorated each one with a number of its unique creations: wall panels, headboards, closets, minibars and vanities, not to mention the crown mouldings and woodbases that lead visitors from the guest rooms to the public spaces and continue into the main ballroom and the junior ballroom, complementing the wall panels. Beaubois also signed the magnificent portals that guide visitors' footsteps through the corridors and the Western red cedar beams sprinkled over the outside terraces.

Talents, architectural elements and hardwoods, including white oak, walnut and mahogany, had to be tightly coordinated, especially when the installation was performed at a pace dictated by a challenging schedule.

Today, the Four Seasons welcomes business people and vacationers, priding itself on its multigenerational appeal. According to Thomas Steinhauer, General Manager of the resort, "A resort destination like this encourages extended families and friends to travel and vacation together." He also noted that a majority of the guest rooms offer the ability to connect to adjoining rooms, and the resort's Royal Suite can expand up to a nine-bedroom residence, the first of its kind in Four Seasons' global hotel collection.

The magic touch of the artists at Beaubois contributed to creating a place to relax and dream, the ultimate goal of Walt Disney World.

Beaubois has carried out more than 25 hotel projects in Canada and the United States, including three on Disney World Sites, adding extraordinary beauty to Disney's Grand Californian in Anaheim, California, Disney's Coronado Springs and Disney's BoardWalk Inn in Florida.
